Mark Moore, DVM
Veterinarian, Owner

Dr. Mark Moore is the sole owner of Seneca Animal Hospital. He grew up on a farm in a small town in Southeastern Kentucky where his family raised goats and operated a small logging and lumber business.

He did his undergraduate studies at Morehead State University in Kentucky and received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University in 1997. Dr. Moore opened SAH in 2001 and moved it to our current location in 2008. He has held five different positions on the executive board for the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians, including president, and is currently the alternate delegate for South Carolina to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). He also serves on the Advisory Committee to the Veterinary Technician Program at Tri-County Technical College (TCTC) and is Chairman of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) at TCTC. Dr. Moore is passionate about making sure SAH keeps up with latest diagnostics and treatments and making them available to our clients.


The Moore family has had a variety of animal family members over the years, including many cats, dogs, and a chameleon. When not busy with clinic, Dr. Moore enjoys catching frogs, toads, and lightening bugs with his two children, fishing and other outdoor activities, Crossfit, and, more recently, learning the art of longbow archery. He is an active member and teacher at the Seneca Church of Christ and participates in annual mission campaigns. The last several mission trips lead Dr. Moore to India and Panama. While in Panama, he led a veterinary team to instruct the cattle ranchers on vaccination, deworming and illness prevention protocols.

Shannon Majsztrik, DVM
Veterinarian

Dr. Shannon Majsztrik (pronounced mice-trick) received her DVM in 2005 at the University of Georgia. She completed a one year small animal medicine and surgery internship in Washington, DC in 2006.

Since then she has worked in small animal general practice and emergency medicine in Maryland until her recent move to South Carolina when her husband accepted a job at Clemson University. For over 20 years, Dr. Majsztrik has worked in the veterinary field. She has varied experience including emergency medicine and management of intensive care cases, surgical research with published works in the subjects of urinary incontinence and minimally invasive surgery, and general practice medicine. Her special interests include internal medicine, infectious diseases, ultrasound, pain management and wellness care.


Dr. Majsztrik resides in Anderson, SC with her husband, 3 children, 1 dog and 3 cats. Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, scuba diving, swimming, exploring nature, reading and playing tennis. She is looking forward to meeting you and your canine and feline family members!

Paul Black, DVM
Veterinarian

Dr. Paul Black was born in Morristown, NJ before moving to Rochester. NY at age 13. He attended Cornell University where he received his Bachelors in Agriculture & Life Sciences. He graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine with his DVM in 1982. Dr. Black held the position of President & CEO of MVA (Monroe Veterinary Associates) from 1996 to his retirement in 2016.

After two enjoyable years of retirement in Salem, SC, Dr. Black is excited to return to the field and assist pet owners in helping their pets live longer, healthier lives.

Dr. Paul Black joined our team in January 2019. He moved to Salem, SC in 2016. His professional interests are in the areas of canine & feline internal medicine, wellness care and gerontology, dentistry and oral surgery as well as general surgery. In his spare time Dr. Black enjoys gardening, visiting national parks, hiking with his wife and dogs, and anything that involves being in the outdoors.

Dr. Black has 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren. He has two dogs (Josie Belle & Ellie Mae) and one cat named buster, who runs the household.

Dr. Jaimi Goodman, DVM
Veterinarian

Dr. Goodman joined Seneca Animal Hospital in June 2020. She started her career as a doctor in 2014. She was raised in Greenville, SC. She moved around growing up and has lived in places like Oklahoma and even Germany! She went to Newberry College and obtained her bachelors degree in biology with a minor in chemistry. She then went on to LSU where she got her DMV degree. Her favorite hobbies are traveling, cooking, reading and shopping!

She loves to play tennis, but the only problem is the ball never comes back because the dogs steal them! She has 5 dogs, 2 parakeets, 2 guinea pigs and 1 cat. Her favorite part about being a DVM is being able to make a difference in an animal for the better and making the clients happy. Her life quote is “Work and then play”.

Dr. Whittney Merchant, DVM
Veterinarian

Whittney joined our practice as an official DVM in September of 2020. She started her career in veterinary medicine in 2012 at Clemson University. She graduated in 2015 for Pre-Veterinary Science. She then went on to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine to get her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Whittney’s favorite hobbies are swimming and driving through the mountains.

Whittney loves playing catch with her dog and watching her dog play in the river. She has two other pets at home as well, both cats, whom she loves very much. Cyndi Carrizales
Executive Director

Cyndi came to SAH in April of 2010 with 7 years previous experience from a clinic outside of Chicago. She was born and raised in the south and ventured away after graduating from Georgia State University. While in Atlanta, she became an avid Georgia Tech fan!

We can most likely blame her husband, who’s a GT Alum. Cyndi finally returned to the south and they made South Carolina their home in December of 2007. Cyndi has had a deep love and affection for all kinds of animals since childhood. ‘I enjoy working at SAH because of the deep commitment to quality care for each animal. My goal is to make everyone know that we are the best animal hospital in the area with top quality caring staff.

Megan Whitman
Director of Administration

Megan was born in Greenville, SC and loves the Upstate! She moved to Oconee County in 2008 to study Veterinary Technology at Tri-County Technical College.

Upon graduating and earning her Associate’s in Veterinary Technology, she worked with a couple of veterinary clinics in North Georgia and South Carolina’s Upstate before finding a home at Seneca Animal Hospital. Megan has over 14 years of experience working in the Veterinary field. She definitely found her true calling. When she’s not at the hospital working with owners, patients and/or staff, she will be found working on her small farm and rehabilitating wildlife. Megan actively participated in wildlife rehabilitation for many years and helped release several animal species. She believes all animals deserve this second opportunity, but only her family will put a larger smile on her face.

Crystal Stratton
Client Coordinator

Crystal joined Seneca Animal Hospital in March of 2020. She first started her journey in Veterinary Medicine in 2003. She was raised in both Kannapolis, NC and Liberty, SC. She went to school At Tri-County Tech where she graduated as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Her favorite hobby is spending time with her loved ones and her critters.

Rand Cournow
Director of Public Contact

Rand was born in GA, raised in VA, and has lived throughout the Southeastern United States. He earned a marketing management degree at Virginia Tech. He started at Seneca Animal Hospital as a kennel technician and also served as part of the front office staff, veterinarian assistant, and client coordinator.

Since moving to the Seneca area, he has been able to hike, swim, climb and explore the Golden Corner’s beautiful and scenic outdoors. His love for animals started with his childhood cat Tiger. Since then his late dog, Captain Shadow Lee, taught him that there was a need for educating pet owners for optimal care of their pets. He joined our team in 2013 and has moved up through the practice to become our Director of Public Contact. ‘My zest for life is knowing your family member receives the best veterinary care known to man!’

Michelle Bush
Director of Client Services

Michelle was raised in Pendleton, South Carolina. She moved to Fair Play 20 years ago. She joined Seneca Animal Hospital in 2015 with over 10 years experience in customer service management. She has 4 cats, 1 dog and a bunny. In her spare time she enjoys listening to music and spending time with her family. Michelle enjoys working and making a difference in human and animal lives.

Maddie Pickett

Maddie grew up in Gilbert, South Carolina. She has been in the veterinary medicine field since January 2018. She joined Seneca Animal Hospital in March, 2019. She graduated from Midlands Technical College with an associates in Arts.

Amanda Mensing
Customer Service Specialist

Amanda joined Seneca Animal Hospital in March of 2020. She was born and raised in Seneca, SC. She went to Anderson College and earned her bachelors degree in Art. Amanda’s favorite part about working here is the animals, and getting to help them in every way she can. Amanda’s favorite hobby is Oil Painting, she is an amazing artist.

Kallee has always lived in this area. She is a graduate from the Veterinary Technology department at Tri-County Technical College. She started out working in the kennels part time while in school then completed her externship here.

Leah joined Seneca Animal Hospital in May of 2020. She started her journey in Veterinary Medicine in 2016. She was born and raised in Camden, SC. She is currently enrolled in Clemson University for Pre-Vet. Her favorite hobby is cooking!

Rachel joined our team in July 2020, but she began her career in veterinary medicine in December of 2013. Rachel was born and raised in DeForest, WI. She attended Clemson University and graduated in 2016 with a bachelor’s in Animal and veterinary science and a minor in Business Administration. Her favorite hobbies are napping, puzzles, and traveling.

She started as a part-time boarding attendant. She was promoted to Boarding Supervisor after 1 year in the practice. As supervisor she is responsible for the care given to all boarding guests at SAH. We board birds, dogs, and cats on a regular basis, and have occasional reptiles and other exotic animals stay with us. Ashley is excited about expanding our boarding services and wants all boarding guests to have the best experience possible while staying with us.
